The Internet of Things (IoT)

Today, the internet, new technologies, and smart devices have had an impressive impact, and it’s worth noting that the pandemic has contributed a lot to this. Spending so much time in our homes led major tech companies to realize that a simple appliance could become something even more useful for the user. These became known as smart devices, and that’s where the concept of the Internet of Things came from. But what is IoT? The acronym stands for Internet of Things and refers to the digital interconnection of everyday objects with the internet. Users’ need for speed, for saving time on certain tasks, and for being in different places at once has made this concept a reality.

Creating routines that make your day easier has been one of the mottos of these smart devices. Living with the peace of mind of being able to keep an eye on your home while you’re away, visiting your loved ones as often as you like without worry, or checking on the people you care about most from wherever you are is now a reality that is helping thousands of people around the world. Who would have thought that one day we could view our homes remotely and, above all, create programmed routines for our appliances, such as lights, TVs, doors, and speakers, among many others, through an app or voice commands? Five years ago it seemed impossible, and today it’s a reality that keeps growing year after year.

The Internet of Things has brought about a radical change in people’s quality of life, offering a wide variety of solutions based on different technologies, along with many benefits and new opportunities, such as access to data and educational, food, business, security, healthcare, and transportation services, among many others. Without a doubt, the Covid-19 pandemic has driven the world forward by leaps and bounds in most of the sectors around us. Automation and faster processes, along with lower production and operating costs to improve the user experience, are the main benefits of this technology, but above all, it has created new market and business opportunities in the wake of these crises. The pandemic has had a negative impact on the world, but we believe it has also brought some technological benefits worth highlighting.
